  • <p>Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani yesterday received Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) secretary-general Dr Marcin Czepelak accompanied by Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) secretary-general Professor Marike Paulsson.</p>
<p>The meeting reviewed the existing co-operation between Bahrain and the PCA, and affirmed the important role played by both the PCA and BCDR in promoting the rule of law and advancing peaceful mechanisms for dispute resolution.</p>
<p>Bahrain reiterated its support for the initiatives led by the PCA and BCDR aimed at strengthening international justice and advancing the resolution of disputes through peaceful means such as conciliation, arbitration, and mediation.</p>
<p>The meeting was attended by ministry director general of legal affairs and human rights Dr Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri.</p>

  • <p>CYCLING &ndash; THE Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) hosted the first Sand Challenge mountain bike race for 2025. The event covered a distance of four kilometres in the adults&rsquo; category, two km for the juniors category, and a half-kilometre distance for the under-10 category.</p>
<p>More than 70 cyclists, both citizens and residents, took part in the race. Hussain Mohammed Ali was the overall victor.</p>
<p>Following the event, the winners were presented their respective medals by BCA officials.</p>

  • <p>US President Donald Trump yesterday hosted the military&rsquo;s largest parade in decades in Washington DC, marking 250 years of the US Army.</p>
<p>The Republican president addressed the event, which involved about 6,000 soldiers and included flyovers and fireworks.</p>
<p>Thousands attended the parade in the nation&rsquo;s capital, which fell on Trump&rsquo;s 79th birthday.</p>

  • <p>Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi chaired a meeting of the Joint Security Committee yesterday.</p>
<p>The officials reviewed mechanisms to enhance co-operation and integration among Bahrain&rsquo;s military and security entities, with the aim of strengthening field co-ordination and joint operations.</p>
<p>Discussions also focused on supporting efforts to reinforce security and stability and improving co-ordination and response capabilities to safeguard the kingdom, its citizens and residents.</p>
<p>Public Security chief Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, National Guard director of staff Lieutenant General Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Khalifa, and a number of senior officers and officials from relevant entities attended the meeting.</p>

  • <p>Social Development Minister and Arab Social Affairs Ministers Council’s 44th session chair Osama Al Alawi delivered an opening address at a high-level side event hosted by the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP18).</p><p> Discussions focused on advancing social development policies aimed at supporting and empowering persons with disabilities, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovative financing.</p><p> He also held bilateral meetings with UN Women executive director Dr Sima Bahous and Hungary’s Minister of State for Disability Policy at the Interior Ministry Dr Ádám Kósa.</p>

  • <p>Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor yesterday received outgoing Palestinian Ambassador Taha Mohammed Abdulqader, and praised strong bilateral relations.</p>
<p>He also commended the ambassador&rsquo;s efforts in strengthening co-operation and co-ordination between the two countries in various fields.</p>

  • <p>Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa yesterday met UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi during his visit to Bahrain. They reviewed Bahraini-UAE co-operation, particularly in the economic and financial domains, and discussed means to strengthen ties. Shaikh Salman highlighted the importance of building on joint achievements and continuing to advance economic integration for the benefit of both countries. He highlighted deep-rooted relations, grounded in strong foundations of collaboration and mutual interests.   • <p>Public Security chief and Royal Police Academy Scientific Council chairman Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan chaired a meeting of the council. The meeting reviewed preparations for upcoming graduation ceremonies, including an event organised in co-operation with the University of Huddersfield to celebrate the graduation of 51 students from the Master&rsquo;s programmes in Human Rights and Criminal Justice, and Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. Preparations were also discussed for a separate ceremony marking the graduation of 158 students from the academy&rsquo;s postgraduate programmes.</p>

  • <p>A summer football camp by scores.bh and Gravity Village has launched.</p>
<p>The programme is designed for boys and girls aged five to 15, and it aims to develop their football skills through both individual and team-based training sessions.</p>
<p>The camp is being held at the Gravity Zallaq fields every Monday and Wednesday until June 30, between 5pm and 6.30pm.</p>
<p>Parents are encouraged to register their children early to secure their spots in this dynamic sports camp.</p>

  • <p>His Majesty King Hamad performed Eid Al Adha prayers yesterday at Sakhir Palace Mosque, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.</p>
<p>The sons of His Majesty, senior members of the Royal Family, ministers, and senior officers from the Bahrain Defence Force, the Interior Ministry and the National Guard, diplomats and other worshippers also performed the prayers at the mosque.</p>

  • <p>Bahraini pilgrims yesterday arrived from Muzdalifa to Mina on the first day of Eid Al Adha to perform the stoning of the devil ritual.</p>
<p>They will now move to the Holy Mosque for Tawaf (going round the Kaaba seven times) and Sa&rsquo;i (walking and running seven times between the two hills of Safa and Marwa).</p>
<p>They will complete the Haj pilgrimage by staying overnight in Mina and throwing pebbles at the three pillars representing the devil.</p>
<p>Bahrain&rsquo;s Haj Mission head Shaikh Adnan Al Qattan praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia in ensuring the success of Haj and the safety of pilgrims.</p>

  • <p>The Bahrain Haj Mission held a co-ordination meeting with licensed Bahraini tour operators to ensure smooth and organised entry of pilgrims to the holy sites.</p>
<p>During the meeting, Bahrain Haj Mission security committee head Major Ahmed Al Ahmed thanked the tour operators for their co-operation and commitment to the instructions from the Bahrain Haj Mission and the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia, which play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims.</p>
<p>He emphasised the importance of co-operation between the mission and tour operators to ensure a successful Haj season and the highest level of organisation.</p>
<p>Security committee member Nasser Al Saadoun presented the transport plan. He explained that the meeting aimed to clarify the organisational instructions for entering the holy sites and transporting pilgrims, including adhering to the set timings and routes for each campaign, in line with the directives of the Saudi authorities, to ensure the comfort and safety of all pilgrims.</p>

  • <p>Under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the 15th graduation ceremony of Al Hekma International School was held at the Gulf Hotel Conference Hall.</p>
<p>The event was attended by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma.</p>
<p>Shaikh Khalid commended the important role educational institutions play in shaping Bahraini citizens, highlighing that investment in education is key to a prosperous future.</p>
