  • His Majesty King Hamad, accompanied by his sons, yesterday attended the wedding of Shaikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, grandson of Bahrain Defence Force Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. The ceremony was held at the Commander-in-Chief’s majlis in Riffa. Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa expressed gratitude to His Majesty for attending the wedding.

  • <p>Palestinian cause will always remain a priority for Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, said Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam at the 39th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union session.</p>
<p>The session was chaired by Oman Shura Council chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, on the sidelines of the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.</p>
<p>Mr Al Musallam noted that Bahrain, through its non-permanent membership in the Security Council for the next two years, will prioritise the Palestinian cause and Arab issues, reflecting its commitment to joint Arab action and awareness of increased responsibilities under current circumstances.</p>

  • <p>Bahrain officially assumed the presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) during the co-ordination meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly, attended by Parliament Speaker and Parliamentary Division Executive Committee chairman Ahmed Al Musallam.</p><p>The meeting was attended by several heads and representatives of Asian parliaments and legislative councils. Mr Al Musallam emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing constructive co-operation with Asian countries and achieving optimal investment in developmental paths.</p><p>He highlighted the meeting’s aim to enhance Asian parliamentary co-operation and expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s parliamentary group being entrusted with the APA presidency for 2026.</p><p>He underlined that Bahrain’s parliamentary group will continue advancing the Assembly’s role by opening broad co-operation and co-ordination for the benefit of Asian countries and peoples.</p>

  • <p>Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro received Egyptian Ambassador Riham Abdelhamid Mahmoud Ibrahim Khalil.   • <p>Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi received Sinosure vice general manager of leasing Zheng Zhongping and He Qi of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC). The meeting reviewed the progress of housing projects currently being implemented in partnership between the two companies. This included updates on the second and third phases of the Sitra Housing Project. It was confirmed that construction work is progressing in accordance with the approved schedule, with a focus on speeding up work on both phases to ensure housing units are delivered to beneficiaries on time.   • <p>The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra performed a tribute concert to one of Bahrain&rsquo;s most popular musical artists, the late Ali Bahar, at the Bahrain National Theatre last night. Conducted by Bahraini maestro Dr Mubarak Najem, the concert featured three members from Mr Bahar&rsquo;s the Brothers Band (Furqat Al Ekhwa) and a number of talented Bahraini singers.</p>
<p>A larger-than-life on-stage hologram of Mr Bahar, who died in 2011, sang the concert&rsquo;s final two songs, and his likeness even gave a speech an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated voice. The 1,001-seat hall was completely sold out last night.</p>
<p>Due to the overwhelming response, a second show is set to take place tomorrow night.</p>

  • <p>His Majesty King Hamad sent a written message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to develop them to serve their mutual interests. Bahrain&rsquo;s Ambassador to Moscow Ahmed Al Saati delivered the message to the president&rsquo;s assistant Yuri Ushakov at his office in the Presidential Administration.</p>
<p>During the meeting, they discussed the course of the close friendship between the two countries, ways to develop and advance them to broader horizons, and deepen co-operation in areas of common interest.</p>

  • Southern Governor and security committee chairman Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa yesterday chaired the committee’s 10th meeting for 2025, attended by Deputy Governor Brigadier Hamad Al Khayyat and senior ministry officers. Shaikh Khalifa commended the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to strengthen community engagement, praising the efforts of security agencies in maintaining safety and stability across the governorate. He affirmed the committee’s commitment to addressing residents’ security needs in co-ordination with relevant authorities, reinforcing community partnership and proactive security measures. The meeting reviewed recent Civil Defence campaigns, with Shaikh Khalifa emphasising continued co-operation to enhance safety and public awareness.   • <p>His Majesty King Hamad&rsquo;s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday met the team&rsquo;s riders and the technical and administrative staff following their distinguished participation in the FEI World Championship for Young Riders and Juniors in Romania.</p>
<p>The team secured second and third places and won the Best Condition Horse Award at the event. He said the results achieved by the Royal Endurance Team represent a genuine gain for Bahrain&rsquo;s endurance sport and a clear message that the discipline continues on its path of development and progress. He wished the team further success in upcoming championships, noting that the riders&rsquo; high level performance reflected strong teamwork and the spirit of determination that distinguishes the team.</p>

  • <p>Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani met 80th United Nations General Assembly session president Annalena Baerbock, at the UN headquarters in New York. Dr Al Zayani conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Ms Baerbock on her assumption of the presidency of the current session, wishing her success in carrying out her responsibilities.</p>
<p>The minister commended the constructive role of the General Assembly in strengthening international co-operation and addressing global issues, emphasising Bahrain&rsquo;s keenness to enhance co-operation and co-ordination with the UN and its agencies across various domains. Ms Baerbock extended her congratulations to Bahrain on its election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, wishing it success in fulfilling the diplomatic and political responsibilities of the membership.</p>
<p>Dr Al Zayani also attended a reception hosted by the UAE&rsquo;s Permanent Mission to the UN, held under the patronage of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He affirmed Bahrain&rsquo;s commitment to enhance co-operation with the UAE.</p>
<p>Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Daina, Bahrain&rsquo;s permanent representative to the UN in New York Jamal Fares Al Ruwaiei, Foreign Ministry&rsquo;s Co-ordination and Follow-up Sector head Saeed Abdulkhaliq, Al Madar Centre head Ali Khalid Al Araifi, and the accompanying delegation attended the meeting.</p>
