DAILY average of coronavirus cases registered a marginal increase last week, as per Health Ministry’s official statistics.
The average number of new cases per day went up to 28 between November 18 and 24, compared with 21 during the previous week.
Out of the 199 confirmed cases, 144 were citizens and 85 expatriates. This includes 166 local infections while 33 were travel-related.
Sixty-nine people were infected by close contacts while 24 developed symptoms and tested positive during the week. Twenty-one people tested positive in random community screening and 52 after quarantine.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s contact tracing highlights revealed three clusters involving 21 Covid positive cases across five households.
A symptomatic 27-year-old female citizen was linked to four family-related cases across two different households. They include her mother, sister, sister’s husband and his mother.
Two symptomatic male siblings, aged 24 and 26, infected six family members, including their parents and siblings.
A 35-year-old male citizen who tested positive through random screening revealed a cluster of 11 positive cases including his wife, siblings, father, nieces and nephews.
