BAHRAIN will move to the yellow zone of Covid-19 restrictions from today until January 31.
According to the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, this precautionary measure is being taken to preserve the health and safety of people across the kingdom.
This comes as the world grapples with the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus, although only one case has been recorded in Bahrain.
This decision is subject to review upon further information becoming available on the Omicron variant from internationally recognised medical research.
People have been urged to adhere to the yellow level procedures as well as continue to observe the necessary precautionary measures.
Eligible individuals should also proceed to a health centre to receive a booster shot without the need to make an appointment, Public Health director Dr Najat Abul Fath said yesterday.
All vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals will be permitted to attend education and training institutes, visit retail shops outside shopping malls, hold private events at home with no more than 30 people and enter standalone government centres.
However, only vaccinated green shield holders, those recovered from Covid-19, and children under the age of 12 years accompanied by a vaccinated or recovered person will be able to visit shopping malls, restaurants and cafes, indoor services, indoor gyms sport halls and swimming pools, cinemas (50 per cent capacity), playgrounds and entertainment centres (50pc capacity), events and conferences (50pc capacity).
