A young delivery driver is on trial at the High Criminal Court for allegedly working as a drug courier and distributing synthetic cannabinoids (CBD oil).
According to a detective, police received a tip-off about a specific block in Salmaniya that witnesses high drug-dealing activity, including buying, promoting and selling.
A team of officers was deployed for a stakeout of the area, and they reportedly found a plastic bag, wrapped and rolled up with adhesive tape, containing pieces of printer paper – likely saturated with CBD oil, the detective recounted.
They also spotted an individual ‘looking around nervously’ and ‘appearing anxious’. When quizzed, he immediately admitted to having carried out a ‘dead drop’ around the corner.
The 23-year-old Pakistani man, who was later charged with trading narcotics, confessed that he had stashed pieces of paper dipped in CBD oil, delivering them via ‘dead mail’.
More CBD-saturated papers were reportedly found on his person, in addition to four bottles of the substance found in his residence.
“The defendant works as a ‘courier’ for another Pakistani, named Adnan, who operates from overseas,” the detective testified.
“His role is to receive smuggled narcotics, portion them out, and deliver them through dead mail for a financial profit.”
A verdict will be issued in the case on July 28.
