TWO current MPs are contesting against each other in the same constituency in the Southern Governorate – after one of them changed his address.
Mohammed Al Sisi and Isa Dossary will be contesting from Constituency 10 (Al Qarain, Umm Jadar Al Saman, Jasaira, Rumaitha, Shabak, Hawar Islands, Durrat Al Bahrain and Khalifa Town).
Mr Al Sisi said that he was this time contesting under a different constituency, after moving homes.
“I will continue to serve my country and today is a democratic wedding,” he told the GDN.
“I have changed the location of my home and, therefore, I am now contesting in Constituency 10 instead of eight.”
Four other MPs also filed their papers at the Al Mustaqbal Primary Girls School in Riffa.
They are Ali Zayed, contesting from Constituency Four (parts of Buhair), Ali Al Nuaimi, contesting from Constituency Seven (Wadi Al Sail and Al Rawadh), Ahmed Al Ansari, representing Al Asala Islamic Society contesting from Constituency Three (parts of Buhair) and Ahmed Al Amer from Constituency One (Isa Town western part).
Mr Al Ansari said that there are several areas where he will work on in improving including housing, jobs and retirees.
“I have been in my area for more than 30 years,” he said.
“There is a lot of improvement which I can achieve in society.
“I was in the municipal council and Parliament.
“I started as a muezzin and worked in the military field.
“I know what the people need in my area and will do my best to serve my country.”
