Fathers and husbands can now get pampered at a top hospital in the Southern Governorate as well as avail other medical treatments following the rebranding and expansion of services to include all members of the family.
The state-of-the-art facility, previously known as the Royal Hospital for Women and Children, yesterday announced its new identity at a high-profile ceremony held at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention and Spa.
Al Malaki Specialist Hospital has now extended its departments to feature male-oriented services such as urology, general surgery, orthopaedics, gastroenterology and other medical departments in line with the royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to elevate Bahrain’s medical sector.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Health (SCH) president Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and was attended by Capital Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Health Ministry assistant under-secretary for public health Dr Mariam Al Hajeri and National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) Health Institutions Regulation Department head Dr Hessa Al Dosari, among other dignitaries.
“Healthcare is always a journey and we started our journey three years ago as a hospital dedicated to women and children including cosmetology, IVF and the Paediatric Centre of Excellence,” said Al Malaki Specialist Hospital chief executive Rohit Srivastava.
“After receiving feedback from our existing patients that their male family members should also get treated at the hospital, our board thought of expanding into general specialities.
“We are now a general hospital and we will be adding male-oriented specialities such as urology among others that have been added to existing facilities.
“We have spared no effort to achieve the comprehensive vision of the hospital in making Bahrain one of the advanced countries in medical treatments.
“Patients wanted this to be a one-stop-shop for the treatment of the entire family at the same facility and we have ensured that we spared no effort to provide that with this expansion.”
Mr Srivastava added that male patients can now have cosmetology procedures done at the hospital along with new departments such as urology in addition to comprehensive care packages to all patients.
“We always believe in taking care of every detail,” he said.
“As a concept the departments were always there but they only catered to women.
“But now male patients can also get the same services.”
Amanat Holdings CEO Dr Mohamad Hamade highlighted that Al Malaki Specialist Hospital has set multiple goals aimed at translating royal directives for further development and progress in the healthcare sector.
He said this included supporting Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 as well as empowering the medical tourism sector – making Bahrain a home for treatment.
“We as the UAE Amanat Holding Company believe in His Majesty’s vision and believe that there is a solid base for the growth of the healthcare sector in Bahrain,” he said.
“Our mission revolves around providing continuous support for further prosperity and looking forward to continued successful achievements that support our strategic goals and sustainable value for our shareholders.”
Meanwhile, Primary Healthcare Centres acting CEO Dr Lulwa Showaiter reaffirmed that the continuous royal support for the medical field has enhanced its ability to provide distinguished health services to citizens and residents.
“The services provided by Al Malaki Specialist Hospital under its new name have become a milestone in advanced medical services along with medical cadres who strive to provide the best services along with their sincere desire to continue gaining knowledge,” she said.
“We are proud that Al Malaki Specialist Hospital will be brighter and more advanced and we affirm our keenness at the SCH to support various private hospitals to work hand-in-hand with government hospitals in providing outstanding medical care to citizens and residents.”
