Inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce in Medina Region continue implementing their integrated inspection plan for the 1447 AH Haj season, coinciding with the beginning of the arrival of pilgrims and visitors to Medina, through intensifying field inspections at markets, shopping centres, sales outlets, and vital sites across the region.
The inspection tours covered commercial markets, gold and jewellery markets, fuel stations, vehicle service centres, and roads leading to the Two Holy Mosques, in addition to the central area surrounding the Prophet’s Mosque, Quba Mosque, Al-Qiblatain Mosque, the Haramain High Speed Railway station, and many other locations.
The inspections aimed to monitor the availability of goods and ensure their suitability, verify commercial establishments’ compliance with consumer protection regulations, and apply regulations and instructions against violators, contributing to creating a commercial environment free from adulterated, counterfeit, and non-compliant products.
The ministry said that inspection teams carried out 10,703 field visits to sales outlets, handled 2,731 reports, and issued 135 immediate fines against non-compliant commercial establishments.
The ministry’s seasonal plan aims to monitor the availability of essential food and supply materials to meet consumption needs during the Haj season, ensure the safety and suitability of goods offered for human consumption, monitor the prices and availability of essential food and supply goods, and verify the availability of sufficient stock to address any increase in demand.
