BAHRAIN Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) showjumping committee vice chairman Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifa crowned Mahmood Abdulqader as the winner of the grand prize in the first round of the 2023 showjumping season, held at the Military Sports Federation Arena, Al Raffah.
The preliminary round featured fierce competition, but Abdulqader clocked 35.40 seconds to emerge as the victor.
Mayoof Al Rumaihi of the Ministry of Interior, who battled it out with Abdulqader, finished second after falling one second behind. Hamad Fakhrawi came thirdin the event which included obstacles of 125/135cm hurdles.
The opening round featured various competitions. Fadel Al Haddad won the third contest which was for first-level amateurs and included 100/105cm hurdles. Al Haddad posted a time of 36.15s to win, followed by Al Rumaihi, who was second again, in 38.53s seconds, while third place went to Hassan Al Boosta who crossed the finish line in 39.98s.
However, Al Rumaihi won the fourth competition clocking 51.20s, while veteran Sami Ghazwan was the winner of the fifth event in a time of 43.58s. The fourth competition featured 105/115cm hurdles, while the fifth one included 115/125cm hurdles.
At the presentation, Shaikh Abdullah praised the strong displays showcased by the participants.
