Bahrain has sufficient stocks of basic food commodities as part of plans to ensure the availability of necessary food and consumer commodities in local markets on a regular basis.
In response to a parliamentary question, the Industry and Commerce Ministry pointed out that according to global indicators, particularly the Global Food Security Index issued by the Economic Intelligence Unit, Bahrain is distinguished by the sustainability of its food security, ranking 38th out of 113 countries, according to the 2022 report, 11 spots up from the 2020 index.
The ministry attributed this achievement to joint efforts by various ministries and agencies, in co-operation with the private sector to provide and secure food sustainability.
The ministry revealed that 79,821 Commercial Registers are active, stressing keenness to transform the commercial registry services into electronic ones.
