DRUGS worth $108 million were seized from fishing vessels during over 30 days by a Bahrain-based task force.
Four drug seizures were conducted in the Indian Ocean by a French warship operating in support of the Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 between April 19 and May 18.
A total of 2,265kg of heroin and 242kg of methamphetamine were confiscated from four boats, according a UK Royal Navy statement yesterday.
CTF 150 is one of five task forces under Bahrain-based Combined Maritime Forces, the largest multinational naval partnership in the world.
So far this year, illegal drugs worth a combined estimated street value of $203m have been seized, adding to record-breaking drug interdictions by US and international naval units in 2021 and 2022 totalling more than $1 billion in value.
CTF 150 conducts maritime security operations in the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean to disrupt destabilising activity, promote international rules-based order and help ensure the free flow of commerce.
