The Muharraq Development Project is one of Bahrain’s strategic development initiatives, given its role in enhancing the town’s historical and cultural standing and upgrading its infrastructure and services, several MPs have affirmed.
The rapid progress in implementing the project’s first phase, which has reached approximately 73 per cent, reflects the government’s serious commitment and the efficiency of execution in accordance with the highest standards of quality and adherence to the established timelines, they said.
They also stressed that the project embodies a comprehensive vision for preserving Muharraq’s architectural identity and revitalising its historical legacy.
They explained that the project contributes to preserving the town’s traditional character through the re-development of several historic neighbourhoods and the construction of service and residential facilities featuring architectural designs that reflect Muharraq’s unique identity.
The MPs also pointed out that the achievements realised so far include the completion of the visitors’ centre, the development of model residential units, and the implementation of road projects.
These initiatives enhance the town’s urban and tourism value and reinforce its position as one of the kingdom’s leading cultural destinations.
They emphasised that the project constitutes a model of sustainable development that combines the preservation of historical identity with the provision of a modern and integrated environment.
They praised the efforts of government agencies in implementing the project in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and under the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
