YOUTH Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi has stressed the importance of more than 130 programmes being offered by Youth City 2023, noting that this year’s edition is the largest since it was launched more than 12 years ago.
The minister said the number of beneficiaries of Youth City is constantly increasing, as it meets the interests and desires of young people of different age groups.
Ms Tawfiqi was speaking to the BNA on the sidelines of a visit by ministers, officials and ambassadors of a number of countries to Youth City 2023 at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir yesterday.
She stressed the ministry’s keenness to establish Youth City in a renewed manner every year, which comes in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad to pay attention to young people as the wealth of the nation, and an affirmation of the attention given by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to make youth a priority in all national programmes and projects.
Ms Tawfiqi said the programme is on its path to success thanks to the patronage and interest of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, who is keen to empower Bahraini youth.
The minister pointed out that there was a package of programmes that provides the opportunity for the youth to learn and discover different fields, in addition to participating in various tournaments, meeting new people and gaining knowledge and making friendships. The dignitaries were briefed on the volume of enthusiasm and activity in the corridors of Youth City 2023, as well as the efforts of volunteers in it.
