Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa following Winfred Yavi’s second-fastest performance of all time in women’s 3,000m steeplechase at the Diamond League 2023 final in Oregon, US on Saturday.
Shaikh Khalid attributed the performance to the unwavering care of the King and the support of HRH Prince Salman and Shaikh Nasser.
Shaikh Khalid praised Yavi for achieving the second-best time in history, as well as breaking her personal, Asian and the championship’s record, which reflects her ability to claim the women’s 3,000m steeplechase gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Yavi clocked 8:50.66 to add a Diamond League title to the world championship gold she gained in Budapest.
