The news that a man shot dead his wife and three children has rocked Turkiye.
According to a local news website, Ozgur Nayman shot his wife, Sevillay, and their three children on Sunday.
He later tried to commit suicide by shooting himself but survived. He is being treated at the intensive care unit of a hospital in Istanbul.
The family’s neighbours called the police after they heard the gunshots, and although paramedics tried to save the wife and children’s lives, they had already died.
Although the motive behind the man’s act is not clear, local media reported that depression and family disagreements might have played a part.
The man reportedly posted on X (previously Twitter) that he was “bored and tired of life”.
