A GUINNESS World Record is set to be attempted this year as part of a top cybersecurity conference taking place in Bahrain next week.
The record attempt for the highest number of people taking part in a hybrid cybersecurity awareness course will be made on the sidelines of the Arab International Cyber Security Conference and Exhibition (AICS), on Tuesday and Wednesday at Exhibition World Bahrain.
“This will be undertaken during the AICS conference from Tuesday at 11am to Wednesday at 11am,” the challenge organisers said, in a statement.
“The online cyber safety course being used for this Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt has been assured by the UK National Cyber Security Centre.”
The free online certification course, comprising eight sections, is set to be ‘a fun, engaging and interactive training lesson’, according to organisers.
These include an overview of what a cyberattack is; foundations of cybersecurity; people and personal data in the cyber landscape; password security and multi-factor authentication; threats, hazards and social engineering; malicious actors and non-malicious failures; how to spot a phishing attack; and other security considerations like Wi-Fi, physical entry, updates, backups and supply chain security.
“Throughout the course, there are engagement points that will interactively test the user’s knowledge with scenarios and practical examples, culminating in ‘A day in the life of Nala’ sequence of scenarios to ensure the user can appropriately apply their newfound cyber safety knowledge,” organisers added.
Those interested must pre-register and complete the course, between 11am on Tuesday and 11am on Wednesday, in one sitting, either remotely or onsite at Hall No 9 in Exhibition World Bahrain.
A live leaderboard will be displayed at the AICS, with information about those who have completed the course, along with their country of origin, continuously updated from the online learning platform.
Those who have registered will receive a notification when the course and GWR attempt go live on the first day of the AICS conference, being hosted by Bahrain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) with support from the Interior Ministry and in partnership with the Economic Development Board.
Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, the two-day event will bring together key decision-makers, industry leaders and cutting-edge solution providers within the cybersecurity space.
The first day’s agenda will include a keynote address about HRH Prince Salman’s vision for a secure digital future as well as a speech from US Homeland Security Department policy under-secretary Robert Silvers.
Bahrain’s NCSC chief executive Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa will speak in the first leadership panel centred on collaborative approaches for global cyber resilience.
Other panels on the first day will address subjects like building cybersecurity resilience programmes, safeguarding critical infrastructure and building capacity to address challenges of the future.
The second day of sessions will include talks about public-private partnerships to enhance cyber defence, innovations in financial cybersecurity and women in cyber. There will also be keynotes about cyber fraud and the next generation of hackers delivered by the Interior Ministry.
