A MAN and a woman have been arrested at Bahrain International Airport for trying to smuggle in about a kilo and half of narcotics worth about BD39,000.
According to a statement yesterday, the Airport Customs officers were carrying out their duties when the man, aged 24, and woman, aged 33, raised their suspicions.
They were directed to the red lane and on checking their baggage narcotic substances hidden in personal clothing and food cans were found.
The contraband was seized and the case was passed on to the Anti-Drug Department of the General Department of Investigation and Criminal Evidence to complete the legal procedures ahead of referring it to the Public Prosecution.
