Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani received Luigi Di Maio, the Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for the Gulf region.
They discussed relations and co-operation between Bahrain and the EU, the means to enhance and develop these ties, as well as the potential for further developing the partnership between the GCC and EU.
The two sides also discussed latest regional developments, including the war in the Gaza Strip, and Arab and international efforts aimed at a ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the delivery of aid to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
They also exchanged views on regional and international topics of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister reviewed the outcomes of the Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain, highlighting initiatives proposed by the kingdom.
The initiatives include calling for an international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, supporting the recognition of Palestine and its UN membership, providing educational services and healthcare to those affected by conflicts in co-operation with international organisations, and advancing Arab co-operation in financial technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
