BAHRAINI youth are the best ambassadors to showcase the kingdom’s principles and values at regional and international fora, said a top minister.
Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi added that these youngsters are worth the trust and responsibility bestowed on them in highlighting the kingdom’s efforts to empower youth and provide them with skills and capabilities.
The minister was speaking ahead of names being announced for the second edition of the Bahraini Youth Ambassadors Programme.
“We are proud of the confidence of our youth and their ability to engage in a dialogue with their peers from across the world,” said Ms Tawfiqi.
The minister also revealed that 96 young men and women had applied to compete for three places on the programme.
She said the programme, which was launched during festivities marking Bahraini Youth Day in March last year, will help to contribute to developing communication skills between Bahraini youth and their peers from all over the world, as well as representing Bahrain at various youth conferences and forums, and investing in their potential.
“When the ministry launched the programme, it was aimed at providing youth with the communication skills to be able to engage in a dialogue with their peers from across the globe and highlight the civilised face of Bahrain.”
Ms Tawfiqi said that the first edition of the programme showed positive results through the participation of Bahraini youth ambassadors in a number of youth forums and events, during which they were able to communicate with their peers, engage in a dialogue, exchange experiences, knowledge and improve their skills.
Meanwhile, the committee supervising the programme held a meeting, chaired by the ministry’s assistant under-secretary for support and initiatives Yusuf Al Muharraqi. It reviewed the results of the judges’ evaluation of the participants, their qualifications and results of personal interviews.
