TRIATHLON – BAHRAIN Victorious 13 superstars are set to spearhead the Crown Racing supertri League roster in 2024, it was announced yesterday.
As Crown Racing’s inaugural principal partner, Bahrain Victorious 13 have brought in their maestros of short-course racing to reclaim the title they won in 2022.
Paris Olympic gold-medallist Cassandre Beaugrand leads their women’s team alongside Georgia Taylor-Brown, a three-time Olympic medallist and two-time supertri champion. The 2023 supertri champion Kate Waugh adds even more firepower.
The men are headlined by Paris Olympic silver-medallist and 2022 supertri champion Hayden Wilde.
Two-time supertri winner Vincent Luis is back with a point to prove after being overlooked for the France team for a home Olympics, while E-World Championships silver-medallist Max Stapley also lines up.
A further male and female athlete will be confirmed shortly to round out the roster.
Bahrain Victorious 13 CEO, supertri co-founder, and four-time triathlon world champion Chris McCormack will become Crown Racing’s manager. His stacked team is aiming for nothing less than the title this year.
McCormack said: “Crown Racing has a very simple mission – to win.
“Having Bahrain Victorious 13 as the team’s principal partner means we can draw upon the very best talent in short course triathlon and put together a stellar line-up which has the potential to blow the rest of the field out of the water.
“I am very confident in this team and that we can restore Crown Racing and Bahrain Victorious to the top of the podium.”
The supertri League, formerly the Super League Triathlon, features a five-race calendar this year.
Teams of four men and four women will race in the campaign, beginning in Boston in the US on August 18. Teams must include an under-23 athlete in line with supertri’s commitment to developing the future of triathlon, and the teams will compete for a prize pot of $1.1 million, which sits outside of individual prize money.
After Boston, the 2024 League campaign will also make stops at Chicago in the US on August 25, at London in England on September 8, at Toulouse in France on October 6, and then at Neom in Saudi Arabia on November 3, for a thrilling end with the Grand Final.
