The Canadian government is inviting you to 'catch 'em all!' with its surplus sale of a rare pokémon card.
GCSurplus, a website that falls under Public Services and Procurement Canada, posted on Facebook about a "rare find" with a listing of a Japanese first-edition Pikachu card that was released in 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokémon.
The minimum bid for the card was set at CA$375 (BD100) and as of November 23, the bid sits at CA$1,700 (BD458)
A spokesperson for the Public Services and Procurement Canada said that they were unable to determine how the government came into possession of the card. Items sold on the government surplus websites are usually items forfeited as a result of regulatory or criminal enforcement action.
The federal government usually sells items such as furniture and machinery through its online surplus store, a pokémon card being sold on a government website is very out of the ordinary.
