His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received the players of the Bahrain national football team and its administrative and technical staff at a celebration held at Bahrain National Stadium, Riffa.
The reception marked their victory as champions of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, which was hosted by Kuwait, which marks the second time in Bahraini football history.
His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa were also present.
The King praised Kuwait’s organisation of the tournament, highlighting the role played by its leadership, government and people in the competition’s success.
