His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Gudaibiya Palace, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, on the occasion of her visit to the kingdom.
He welcomed the Italian Prime Minister and her accompanying delegation, expressing his appreciation for her visit, which marks an important step in further strengthening the Bahraini-Italian partnership.
Prime Minister Meloni expressed her appreciation to the King for the warm hospitality she received during her visit.
The two sides reviewed the development of the strategic relations and discussed opportunities to enhance co-operation, particularly in economic, trade, investment and sustainable development sectors to serve mutual interests.
The King emphasised Bahrain’s interest in further strengthening ties with Italy and enhancing them to further achieve prosperity and benefit for their people.
He also commended Italy’s efforts and initiatives to reinforce international peace and stability and address global issues that foster co-operation and peace among nations.
During the meeting, the King and the Italian Prime Minister exchanged views on regional and international developments, including latest updates in the Middle East and topics of mutual interest.
The two sides underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomatic solutions and co-operation in addressing crises and promoting global peace and stability.
The King further highlighted Bahrain’s historical and cultural role in building bridges of communication, co-operation and dialogue among various civilisations, cultures, and religions, promoting values of tolerance and coexistence for the benefit of humanity.
The Italian Prime Minister commended His Majesty’s efforts to strengthen the historical relations between the two countries and advance co-operation across various sectors.
His Majesty hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting Prime Minister and her accompanying delegation.
