As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, preparations are in full swing in Bahrain to meet the increased demand for meat products.
Livestock traders confirmed to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej their readiness for the holy month by importing and providing large quantities of sheep and cattle meat for consumers.
“We have been preparing for the holy month of Ramadan for nearly two months by supplying sheep and cattle meat. We have imported 2,000 sheep from Somalia, 2,000 calves and 1,000 cattle.
The price of a Somali sheep ranges from BD55 to BD70 and one kilogramme of meat is priced at BD3.5. Meanwhile, the price of a cattle head ranges from BD450 to BD600, with BD3 per kilogramme.
We imported 200 heads of Arab livestock, which cost BD4.5 per kilogramme,” livestock trader Mahmoud Al Baqali stated.
