The year’s first runway maintenance project at Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been completed, it was announced yesterday.
The initiative included key improvements such as rubber removal, asphalt patching and Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) enhancements with LED upgrades to ensure safety and operational efficiency, said a statement from the Bahrain Airport Company, the operator and managing body of BIA.

“Conducted in co-ordination with the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, the maintenance work adhered to the highest international aviation safety standards,” said the statement.
“This reinforces BAC’s commitment to industry best practices. By implementing proactive maintenance programmes, BAC has set a benchmark in runway upkeep, enhancing performance and minimising wear-related hazards.
