Thirty Bahraini fashion designers are participating in an intensive training programme designed to boost the kingdom’s creative industries, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced.
The programme, a collaboration between Tamkeen, +973 Artisanat Creative Entrepreneurs Incubator, and the French Fashion Institute ESMOD, aims to equip local talent with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the competitive fashion sector.
Tamkeen chief executive Maha Mofeez and +973 Artisanat founder Dr Shaikha May bint Sulaiman AlOtaibi met the designers to review the programme’s progress. Participants expressed enthusiasm for the programme’s first phase, focusing on skill development, and eagerly anticipate the second phase, which will concentrate on brand building and business launch.
The 19-month programme features workshops covering key areas such as fashion design, pattern making, and marketing. The top 15 participants will receive mentorship to refine their concepts and launch their businesses.
“We are honoured to have Tamkeen’s trust in offering this outstanding programme and we are proud of the achievements of the Bahraini designers who joined it so far, which showcase the depth and quality of talent available in Bahrain,” stated Dr Shaikha May. She emphasised that the programme provides specialised, hands-on training from industry experts.
The programme is delivered by ESMOD Dubai, part of the internationally recognised ESMOD International Fashion Schools network, which has a 184-year history of fashion education. This initiative reflects Tamkeen’s commitment to supporting the growth of the creative industries in Bahrain.
