Bahrain has welcomed the decision of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to upgrade Palestine’s status to ‘non-member observer state’, during its General Conference in Geneva.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement yesterday, underlined that the kingdom views this step as growing international recognition of the State of Palestine’s right to full membership in the United Nations, which aligns with the UN General Assembly resolution, as well as the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit and the Extraordinary Palestine Summit held in Cairo.
The ministry emphasised Bahrain’s steadfast support for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
