An exciting array of children’s cultural activities will take place next month at a number of landmarks around the kingdom, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) announced in a statement yesterday.
From Monday to August 27, the children’s programme will offer a diverse range of activities in Arabic across several themes – ‘Bahraini Treasures’, ‘Arts and Crafts’, ‘History Explorers’ and ‘The Archaeologists’.
“To be held every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9am to noon, the programme offers a rich array of activities tailored for children and youth aged eight to 12,” the statement added.
“It aims to foster cultural awareness through educational experiences that highlight the importance of heritage, encourage its appreciation and preservation, and inspire participants to become ambassadors of culture within their communities.”
‘History Explorers’ will kick off the activities from Monday to Wednesday. It will include a ‘Junior Site Inspectors’ session, ‘The Little Museologist’ workshop and a tour of Dilmun Hall.

On Tuesday, there will be a tour of the Post Office Museum, followed by workshops on designing and delivering postcards and designing mailboxes.
Wednesday will feature mythical storytelling with Mohamed Saleh, a tour of the Epic of Gilgamesh, and a ‘Meet Gilgamesh!’ workshop.
‘The Archaeologists’ segment, from August 11 to August 13, offers hands-on archaeological experiences.

On August 11, participants can engage in a workshop on traditional Dilmun pottery and the Barbar Temple project, followed by a tour of the Hall of Dilmun Graves.
There will be a workshop for children to create their own pottery in A’ali on August 12.
This segment will conclude on August 13 with an exploration session and photography workshop, both focused on artefacts.
For aspiring artists, the ‘Arts and Crafts’ path will run from August 18 to August 20.

Children can decorate their own bags with artist Shaima Murad on August 18.
On August 19, there will be a ‘Little Artists’ Watercolour Adventure’ with artist Ebrahim Al Ghanim.
The segment wraps up on August 20 with a tour of the Al Jasra Crafts Centre and crafting workshop.
And finally, the ‘Bahraini Treasures’ segment, running from August 25 to 27, delves into the rich heritage of Bahrain.

Highlights include ‘Grandma’s Tales (Hazawi Yadditi)’ with Aisha Al Sulaiti, exploring customs, traditions and traditional games on August 25.
On August 26, there will be a tour of the House of Basket Weaving and a ‘Little Weavers’ workshop.
The programme will conclude on August 27 with traditional proverbs by Hajar Al Fadala, a Bahraini cooking workshop with Chef Bassam Al Alawi and a photography session in traditional attire.
