Safa Abdul Khaliq has been appointed as the chief executive officer of the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (Danat), effective August 31, 2026.
She succeeds Noora Jamsheer, who has led the organisation since 2019.
Ms Khaliq joins Danat from Export Bahrain, where she served as CEO and guided the national agency from its inception to full operational maturity.
Her career includes over a decade at Tamkeen in senior roles – most recently as investment department director – and a background in the banking sector.
A certified KPI and Balanced Scorecard practitioner, she holds an MBA in Project Management and serves on the Bahrain National SME Development Board.
She has also represented the kingdom on several regional and international bodies, including the National Committee for the World Trade Organisation and the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Committee for Integrated Industries.
Danat chairman Mohamed Ahmed Al Sada welcomed the appointment, highlighting her track record in institutional development and strategic growth.
“Her appointment marks an important step in Danat’s continued evolution as we seek to expand our international partnerships, strengthen our commercial offerings, and further elevate Bahrain’s position as the global home of natural pearls,” Mr Al Sada said.
