A four-day course to prepare first-aid trainers was organised by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross in Kuwait at the BRCS headquarters in Seef.
Participants received comprehensive training on essential first-aid guidelines, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for adults, children and infants, as well as the proper use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The session also covered a wide range of topics such as managing cardiac emergencies, airway obstruction and identifying various medical and environmental emergencies including heat exhaustion, heatstroke, drowning and complications related to diabetes, asthma and epilepsy.
Additional modules focused on the classification and treatment of burns, different types of poisoning and essential first-aid procedures for fractures, bleeding and spinal injuries.
The second phase included hands-on application and mastery of diverse training techniques, effective questioning strategies and an in-depth understanding of behavioural patterns among trainees.
The course concluded with a practical project, followed by performance evaluations and feedback sessions.
“This programme underscores our efforts to strengthen community preparedness and emergency response capabilities by developing a well-qualified network of specialised trainers equipped to deliver life-saving knowledge and promote first-aid awareness across the kingdom,” said BRCS first -aid committee head Fatima Ahmed.
