Moscow: Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, met with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, to discuss various aspects of the strategic partnership between the two countries and means to develop it at all levels, in addition to several regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), this took place during the talks held at the Kremlin as part of Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s official visit to Russia.
Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed and President Putin reviewed the progress of UAE-Russia cooperation, especially in the domains of economy, trade, investment, space, energy, and other areas that serve the development priorities of both countries, reflecting their commitment to continue advancing their strategic partnership across various domains.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said that UAE-Russia relations are based on solid foundations of mutual trust and respect, founded on a long-standing legacy of constructive cooperation and joint work spanning more than fifty years. The President underscored the UAE’s commitment to building effective developmental partnerships with various countries and enhancing international cooperation to confront shared global challenges and achieve sustainable development and prosperity for all peoples.
Both leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed confirmed the UAE’s approach to reinforcing peace and stability worldwide, alongside promoting peaceful solutions and initiatives to various conflicts and disputes both regionally and globally.
They discussed the importance of the upcoming Russia-Arab summit, scheduled for October and called for by President Putin, in strengthening Russia’s relations with the Arab world.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and President Putin reviewed developments in the Middle East, emphasising the necessity to intensify efforts to find a clear horizon for just and comprehensive peace based on the "two-state solution," ensuring stability and security for all.
On the sidelines of the visit, the two countries signed the "Trade in Services and Investment Agreement."
The agreement was signed on behalf of the UAE by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, and on behalf of Russia by Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development.
The UAE-Russia Trade in Services and Investment Agreement complements the Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. It provides a special bilateral framework for cooperation with Russia focusing on services and investment, including financial technology, healthcare, transport, logistics, professional services, and others.
Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Andrey Nikitin, Russian Minister of Transport, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in land transport between the two sides.
Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed departed Moscow at the conclusion of his official visit to Russia.
