Construction of a key housing project for women in Hidd has reached 73 per cent and is expected to be finished by the end of the year, Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi has said.
Beneficiaries will be allocated apartments after that, the minister said during an inspection visit to the Masaken 2 project in Al Hidd Housing City.
She was accompanied by Supreme Council for Women (SCW) secretary general Lulwa Al Awadhi.
They reviewed the progress and completion rates of the project, in the presence of officials from the ministry and the council.
Ms Al Romaihi noted that the Masaken project is one of the leading initiatives to support women in securing suitable housing and ensuring their living stability.
It builds on the success of Masaken 1 in Al Lawzi, which met its goal of providing homes for female citizens, she said.
The minister said the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president, has helped advance efforts to provide housing services for Bahraini women.
The SCW secretary general said the project’s progress reflects a joint commitment to accelerating housing projects that support Bahraini women and their stability.
She commended the strong partnership between the council and the ministry to meet women’s housing needs, support sustainable development and align with shared visions and goals.
During the site visit, the engineering team presented the project’s components, apartment designs and the facilities and services provided, in line with the plan co-ordinated between the ministry and the council.
The plan focuses on modern apartment designs and providing services and facilities that meet the needs of the project’s beneficiaries.
