The national cyber drill, ‘Cyber Shield 2025’, held under the theme ‘Supply Chain Attacks’, concluded yesterday, in the presence of National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Supreme Defence Council secretary-general Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Organised by the National Cyber Security Centre at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir, the finale was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
The drill saw wide participation from various government agencies and vital private sectors.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser confirmed that the success of the drill enhances Bahrain’s high level of national readiness to protect cyberspace and reflects the ability of Bahraini competencies to deal with evolving threats.
He said Bahrain continues to strengthen its advanced digital infrastructure in line with the highest international standards, thereby protecting cybersecurity in the country.
He added that the drill was an important milestone for co-operation and exchange of experiences between various institutions, and helped increase the level of national co-ordination, which strengthens the kingdom’s position in countering cyber attacks.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser directed the National Cyber Security Centre to hold the drill annually, due to its role in continuing progress and prosperity in the field of cybersecurity.
National Cyber Security Centre chief executive Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser for supporting the drill, noting that this support contributed significantly and directly to its success and achieving its objectives.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser honoured a number of entities, participants and a group of national talents who won the drill.
He expressed his appreciation for their outstanding efforts that contributed to the success of the drill and highlighted the honourable image of Bahraini talent.
The winners of the institutional competition were: Energy and industry sector – Bapco Energies; security sector – Interior Ministry; financial and banking sector – Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait; education sector – Bahrain Institute for Political Development; health sector – Gulf Medical and Diabetes Centre; government sector – Bahrain Chamber; telecommunications and transportation sector – STC.
The winners in the individual competition were: Government sector – representative of the Prime Minister’s Office; security sector – representative of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Defence Council; energy and industry sector – representative of Bapco Energies; financial and banking sector – representative of National Bank of Kuwait; education sector – representative of Arabian Gulf University; health sector – representative of Bio Lab; telecommunications and transportation sector – representative of STC.
