BAHRAIN’S experience in promoting and protecting children’s rights was presented at a regional workshop in Jordan.
National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) commissioner Dr Shaima Mohammed led the kingdom’s delegation at the event organised by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) for regional offices in the Middle East and North Africa.

Dr Mohammed’s presentation covered the institution’s establishment, legal framework and mandated responsibilities, its 2024-2025 strategy and action plan, initiatives in child rights protection, the first annual forum for Bahraini children titled “You Have the Right, You Have a Voice”, participation through the Child Rights Commissioner’s Friends Group, and efforts to enhance co-operation with stakeholders.
The workshop aimed to enhance co-ordination, facilitate knowledge exchange and develop joint strategic plans to advance and protect children’s rights.
