National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has highlighted Bahrain’s keenness to continue reinforcing ties with Serbia to serve mutual interests and support security and peace efforts at the regional and international levels.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser made the statement following his attendance at the military parade of the Serbian Armed Forces, titled ‘Power of Unity’, held in Belgrade as part of the celebrations of Unity, Freedom and Serbian Flag Day, during his official visit to the country.
The parade was held in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić; UAE President Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Dubai Crown Prince, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; and a number of senior officials.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser said Bahrain’s participation in Serbia’s celebrations reflects the close historical relations between the two countries and the support of their leaderships in strengthening co-operation across various domains.
He praised the parade for showcasing the Serbian Armed Forces’ efficiency and discipline as well as their advancements in armament and training.
The ceremony started with a 300-metre Serbian flag being carried in front of the main platform. This was followed by Serbian Armed Forces formations, displays of air defences, personal protection units, and modern defence equipment, all showcasing the qualitative development achieved by the Serbian forces at organisational and operational levels.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser was accompanied by Deputy National Security Adviser Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa; Strategic Security Bureau chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa; Capital Governor Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa; and Bahrain’s Ambassador to Serbia (residing in Russia) Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati.
