Foreign Minister and National Human Rights Committee chairman Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani underlined that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, Bahrain continues its foreign policy based on peace, dialogue and international solidarity to promote security, stability, coexistence and sustainable prosperity.
Dr Al Zayani expressed pride in the vision and policy of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in consolidating peace diplomacy, understanding and global partnership for the benefit of all.
Marking the International Day of Peace, observed under the theme “Act Now for a Peaceful World” and coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission, he highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing co-operation on the regional and global levels.
The kingdom places priority on GCC integration, especially as it chairs the upcoming GCC Summit, while supporting the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation as key partners in promoting peace and regional security.
The minister underscored the Comprehensive Security and Prosperity Agreement signed in Washington in 2023 between Bahrain and the US, joined by the UK, as a milestone in fostering peace, stability and development at regional and international levels while ensuring the safety of maritime and air navigation and securing global energy and trade supplies.
He underlined the kingdom’s partnership with the UN, noting the signing of the 2025–2029 Sustainable Development Co-operation Framework with 21 UN agencies, funds and programmes.
He emphasised Bahrain’s anticipation of contributing effectively to global peace and security through its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, including in the areas of human rights and sustainable development.
