A delegation from the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) took part in a special workshop organised by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
‘International Humanitarian Law in Light of the Challenges of Humanitarian Response’ brought together representatives from the Red Crescent Societies and authorities in the GCC, staff of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, and humanitarian and relief workers.
They discussed the importance of reinforcing a culture of respect for international humanitarian law among employees and volunteers, encouraging initiatives that uphold humanitarian values, enhancing adherence to those values and identifying the challenges faced in humanitarian work and health services to take appropriate preventive measures.
During the workshop, the BRCS highlighted its experience in promoting international humanitarian law and presented its active role in training volunteers and raising awareness within the local community.
The presentation also underscored the society’s initiatives in co-operation with the ICRC and the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law in Bahrain.
The BRCS delegation was headed by board of directors member Dr Maryam Al Hajri and society member Zakia Bukamal.
