I REALLY enjoyed the public bus tour organised to mark World Tourism Day in Bahrain.
I thank the authorities for the well-organised evening tour. I felt proud and had a great experience with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry and the Bahrain Public Transport Company.
I have been a resident in Bahrain for more than a decade, and this was my first time to participate in a group tour which covered the Bahrain National Museum, Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre and the Kanoo Museum.
The four-hour tour started at 3pm at the Bahrain National Museum followed by visits to the Kanoo Museum in Bab Al Bahrain, the crafts centre in Al Jasra village and ended at 7pm at the same place with a tour guide providing all the details.
I really appreciate the authorities’ efforts to specially promote and protect the craft centres for their dedicated handmade products under one roof for display, live production, sales and other activities together in the Al Jasra craft village.
All-in-one plan for crafts items under one umbrella to support sustainable development for future generations and also encouraging the local people and economy which is remarkable.
The visit to the crafts centre was something special as it reflected the island’s rich and cultural heritage with traditional crafts like pottery making. It attracted me a lot. Cloth-weaving was also an added interesting attraction.
I hope such tours will continue and that the authorities will come up with new tours to other places of historical importance as the cooler weather is nearly upon us.
