AROUND 70 female domestic workers benefited from a breast cancer awareness campaign organised by the Indian Community Welfare Association (ICRF Bahrain) to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event was led by ICRF Bahrain’s Women’s Forum in association with the American Mission Hospital (AMH) at the latter’s premises in Manama.
Interior Ministry representative Nedal Al Alawai graced the occasion, which featured blood pressure checks for the attendees, followed by physical examinations and consultations.
AMH obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Lakshmi Govind spoke about the importance of early screening and shared self-examination tips. AMH staff nurses Mariamma Koshy and Shanthi Noronha were also present to provide support.
Participants will be able to benefit from follow-ups, including ultra-sound and mammogram as required at AMH free of charge.
Gift hampers and snacks sponsored by ICRF Bahrain were distributed.
