THE 34th edition of the Bahrain International Music Festival, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), continues, presenting an artistic blend of authenticity and innovation.
The festival will present a series of evenings open to the public over the coming days.
Today, the Dar Bin Harban Folk Arts Troupe will perform at Dar Bin Harban in Muharraq, featuring Ardha, La’bouni, Khammari, and other authentic Bahraini arts.
Tomorrow, the Cultural Hall will host Italian musician Eugenio Benato, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy to Bahrain, in his project ‘Music from the World’, which blends Italian roots with global rhythms.
On Wednesday, an evening will be held in collaboration with the French Embassy featuring the Renaud Garcia-Fons band in a musical project titled ‘Silk Moon’, inspired by flamenco and Ottoman music.
The festival kicked off last weekend at the Bahrain National Theatre with an exceptional evening at the Egyptian Opera House celebrating the memory of the Lady of Arabic Singing, Umm Kulthum. Performed by artists Rehab Omar and Enas Ezz El-Din, led by maestro Mustafa Helmy, the evening brought audiences back to the authentic atmosphere of singing through the masterpieces of the Star of the East.
In the Cultural Hall, Bahraini artist Abdullah Haji and the ‘Ruh’ band presented an evening titled ‘Muharraqi Jazz’, blending Bahraini folk rhythms with modern jazz music.
Meanwhile, the Muharraq House hosted a performance by the Qalali Folk Arts Band, which presented pieces from the Fjiri art form, which is listed on Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
