Bahrain's Parliament and the Shura Council have earned royal praise for putting the nation first and serving the interests of the citizens.
His Majesty King Hamad commended their significant achievements in supporting the country’s development and progress, as he received the annual reports of the two chambers for the third session of the sixth legislative term.
He emphasised the importance of advancing accomplishments in the next stage of this ongoing national journey.
The reports were presented to His Majesty at Safriya Palace by Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam and Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh yesterday. The deputy chairpersons of both councils attended the audience.
His Majesty praised the constructive ideas included in the reports aimed at enhancing legislative and oversight performance and building on past successes.
He stressed the importance of continued co-ordination between the executive and legislative branches for the prosperity of Bahrain.
His Majesty expressed pride in the achievements made across various fields, the contributions of Bahrain’s citizens to the nation’s progress and their dedication to strengthening its leadership and global standing.
Bahrain will remain united and a beacon of tolerance, coexistence and openness, the King said.
The chairmen expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty for his praise and continued support.
They affirmed that all legislative accomplishments are the result of His Majesty’s guidance and encouragement.
Mr Al Musallam and Mr Al Saleh reiterated their commitment to serving the nation and its citizens through continued co-operation and achievement.
Dr Fawzia Al Jeeb, adviser to the chairman of the Shura Council, presented to His Majesty a book she authored, documenting Bahrain’s success in hosting the 146th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and accompanying meetings in 2023.
The Shura report outlines its key achievements, including the Royal Address and the council’s reply, committee work, draft laws, budgets and ministerial questions. It also lists parliamentary diplomacy activities and the accomplishments of the general secretariat.
Parliament’s annual report highlights its main outputs, including legislative and oversight work, parliamentary diplomacy engagements and public outreach programmes.
