The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) announced the selection of its engineer, Yousif Khalid Al Qattan, as leader of the Arab Space Pioneers team implementing the Arab Satellite 813 Project.
Mr Al Qattan was assigned to present progress updates on the project during meetings of the Arab Space Co-operation Group and at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney. He reviewed the project’s key objectives and confirmed the completion of all technical requirements ahead of the satellite’s planned launch before the end of the year.
Officials from the UAE’s National Space Science and Technology Centre, which oversees the project, and participating delegation heads commended the high level of competence demonstrated by the Bahrain Space Agency representative.
Mr Al Qattan said the Arab Space Pioneers Programme had provided an important opportunity in his educational and professional journey. He expressed his aspiration to further develop his expertise in satellite development and ground station management to support the agency’s future projects.
BSA chief executive officer Dr Mohammed Al Aseeri expressed pride in Mr Al Qattan’s selection, noting that it reflects the capabilities of Bahraini youth and the strong support they receive.
He highlighted that the agency continues to build national capacity in space sciences by empowering young talents and enabling them to develop academically and professionally, contributing to Bahrain’s growing scientific community.
