A new parliamentary draft law has been submitted with the aim of linking government subsidies to the Sustainable Cost of Living Index.
The proposal, submitted by MP Dr Muneer Suroor, calls for issuing a Cost of Living Index every six months, and providing temporary additional subsidy to low-income families if the index rises by five per cent or more within a six-month period, our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej reported .
