CYCLING – Anel Tashbay from Kazakhstan bagged the gold medal yesterday in the girls’ road cycling individual time trial in the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
Tashbay won the 18-rider event, held along a 12.2-kilometre course, in a time of 17 minutes 06.05 seconds.
She finished 19.03 seconds ahead of silver-medallist Aofei Xing from China, while Ching Kiu Law from Hong Kong captured bronze 34.36s behind.
Bahrain’s Dana Aldoseri was classified 18th in the time trial, clocking 4:34.47 seconds slower than Tashbay.
The boys’ individual time trial takes place today with 22 entries.
Representing the kingdom will be Hasan Thamer.
