The INFINITI QX80 and the vehicle’s new variants are available to pre-order now in Bahrain. High-tech features include Biometric Cooling, which uses an infrared sensor to detect when a second-row passenger is hot and instantly adjusts the temperature and airflow to direct cool air to them.
This luxury car is presented by YK Almoayyed & Sons (YKA), the sole distributor of INFINITI vehicles in the kingdom. The flagship SUV includes a new SPORT grade with a dark and sleek appearance, that will be arriving ‘shortly’ to Bahrain, says the marque.
Its dramatic makeover begins with a new front grille, a restyled front bumper, and 22-inch wheels.
The exterior is dripping in darkly dramatic details, including darkened elements on the exterior trim, mirror caps, lower bumper finishers, roof rails and emblems.
The SPORT grade is available in Mineral Black, Radiant White, Grand Blue or Dynamic Metal, with the latter three optionally paired with a contrasting Black Obsidian roof for maximum drama.
The dark aesthetic is continued in the interior with a stunning Dusk Blue colour scheme, dark matte chrome accents, graphite for the headliner and pillars, and unique diamond-pattern perforation on the black/blue seat inserts.
The front is dominated by the newest iteration of the signature INFINITI double-arch grille, which was inspired by the organic shapes of a bamboo forest.
Sleek, multi-element LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on either side of the upper grille resemble INFINITI’s ‘digital piano key’ elements and complement the illuminated INFINITI emblem.
In profile, the sleek, minimalist design theme is especially evident with flush door handles that automatically present themselves when the vehicle is unlocked, resulting in a cleaner look and better aerodynamic performance.
At the rear, a full-width LED lighting element draws the eye with more than 300 LEDs, while its elegant, curved profile was inspired by the tranquil reflections of light upon water.
When you approach, a theatrical welcome sequence activates, culminating in the INFINITI Light Path; a projection on the ground featuring the INFINITI wordmark and wing-like geometric shapes.
The dashboard is a feast for the eyes, using two 14.3-inch display. The centre display brilliantly incorporates connected technology with Google built-in, allowing for simple navigation with Google Maps and easy, natural-language interactions using Google Assistant.
A separate nine-inch touchscreen mounted below the main display provides convenient, dedicated control of all climate functions, front seat heating/cooling, and drive mode selection.
The cabin can be further customised with an available 64-colour Personalised Ambient Lighting system. All three rows of the vehicle are treated to first-class comfort and convenience.
The first two rows are available with ventilated seats and the available massaging seats are offered in the second row, in addition to the front.
The standard VR35DDTT 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged engine has a mighty 450 horsepower and 700 nM of torque. This thrilling power is seamlessly managed by a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission with a wide gear ratio range that enables responsive acceleration and efficient highway cruising.
A drive mode selector includes Standard, Eco, Sport, Sand, Rock and Personal settings. The Electronic Air Suspension lowers the car by 1.2 inches at speed for better aerodynamics, lowers by 2.8 inches when parked to assist passengers to gracefully disembark, and can be raised 2.1 inches in Off-road setting should you decide to go off the beaten path.
Engineers also ensured the SUV is built for rock-solid confidence, increasing the frame’s torsional stiffness by 25 per cent and lateral stiffness by 57pc compared to the preceding QX80, leading to a more composed ride with fewer jolts and vibrations.
And for ultimate peace and quiet, the cabin has been significantly sound-proofed, resulting in the vehicle’s interior being up to three decibels quieter on the highway and four decibels quieter in urban driving than its predecessor.
The QX80 delivers truly powerful, lifelike sound with segment-first Klipsch premium audio systems. SENSORY, SPORT, and AUTOGRAPH grades get the spectacular Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System with an astonishing 24 speakers, a thumping 1,200 watts of power and a 24-channel amplifier.
The Individual Audio feature is a game-changer, allowing the driver to hear only certain audio elements such as navigation directions, music or a phone call from their seat. Imagine the peace of taking a call while your passengers continue listening to music!
Finally, the QX80 is packed with advanced camera systems and driver assistance to take the panic out of tight parking spaces and tricky driving.
The Front Wide View provides a huge 170-degree view to the sides of the vehicle, allowing you to ‘see’ past parked cars or around blind corners before committing.
Even more astonishing is the Invisible Hood View, which uses advanced image processing to project an image of what’s directly in front of the vehicle, as if you could literally see right through the engine bay, helping spot treacherous curbs and obstacles.
Both of these fantastic features become even more impressive when combined with the world-first Ultra Wide View, which extends the display across both 14.3-inch screens for maximum reassurance!
For added safety, ProPILOT Assist is standard, combining Intelligent Cruise Control with steering assistance to aid the driver in staying centred in their lane, while an extensive list of collision-avoidance technologies, including Trailer Blind Spot Warning ensures you are always protected.
