The DP World ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour got underway in the kingdom today.
The three-day event is being held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and it reflects Bahrain’s continued commitment to advancing sport as a pillar of national development and international engagement.
Today's programme was headlined by a Royal Sea Parade along the Manama seafront, during which the trophy was showcased on a boat en route to Water Garden City, where the trophy was welcomed by a large crowd of cricket enthusiasts.
The trophy was then taken to The Avenues Bahrain where fans were able to take photos and enjoy some other cricket-themed activities.
The trophy tour continues tomorrow with fan-engagement events at Dana Mall and Al Najma Club, as well as a trophy unveiling gala, which will be attended by Sri Lankan cricket legend Angelo Mathews.
