HORSERACING – THE private sector plays an important role in supporting the kingdom’s development, particularly in horseracing, in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
This was highlighted yesterday by Prime Minister’s Court Minister and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in a meeting with BBK chairman Tariq Al Saffar.
Shaikh Isa noted that strategic partnerships with the private sector represent a fundamental pillar in supporting plans and programmes aimed at strengthening REHC’s role as an integrated sports and tourism hub.
Shaikh Isa commended BBK for its continued support of REHC’s initiatives and development plans, noting that the strategic partnership between REHC and BBK serves as a strong model for private-sector contribution to national development efforts and underscores their shared commitment to advancing the horseracing sector regionally and internationally.
Shaikh Isa noted the importance of continuing to develop this partnership to develop the club’s infrastructure and facilities, strengthening its ability to host diverse competitions and events, and positioning the kingdom as a leading integrated hub for sports and tourism.
For his part, Al Saffar expressed his appreciation for Shaikh Isa’s support in strengthening partnerships with the private sector, commending his leadership in developing and advancing the horseracing sector.
In this context, REHC announced a strategic partnership with BBK in support of its development plans aimed at upgrading facilities and enhancing the kingdom’s position as a leading destination for horseracing.
The agreement, which includes BBK’s sponsorship of one of the club’s development projects, was signed by REHC CEO Yusuf Osama Buheji and BBK group chief executive officer Yaser Alsharifi, in the presence of several officials from both sides.
Buheji noted that this agreement reflects REHC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with private sector institutions, contributing to the development of the horseracing sector and enhancing Bahrain’s position on the global racing map.
For his part, Alsharifi affirmed BBK’s commitment to continuing its support for REHC through sponsoring development projects, championships, and international races, as part of the bank’s role in supporting the kingdom’s vital sectors, noting that the development witnessed in horseracing has been a key driver in strengthening this partnership.
