Boxing – UZBEKISTAN and Kazakhstan bagged five gold medals apiece yesterday while India won four in the boxing competitions of the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
Securing gold medals for the Uzbeks were Abdugani Yorkinjonov in the boys’ 46kg, Ibrokhim Shokipjonov in the boys’ 60kg, Diyorbek Murodilloev in the boys’ 75kg, Asadbek Sultanboev in the boys’ over-80kg, and Rushanabonu Isoeva in the girls’ 60kg.
For Kazakhstan, Zhumagali Nurmakhan won the boys’ 50kg category, Doszhan Zhumakan triumphed in the boys’ 54kg, Daniyal Shalkarbay won gold in the boys’ 66kg, Ayaulym Ospanova took the girls’ 66kg, and Kamila Ospanova was victorious in the girls’ 75kg.
India’s four gold-medallists included Khushi Chand in the girls’ 46kg, Ahaana Sharma in the girls’ 50kg, Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari in the girls’ 54kg, and Anshika in the girls’ over-80kg.
Amongst the officials present to award the winners their medals were Bahrain Boxing Federation president Rashid Feleyfel and Bahrain Combat Sports Council member and Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation president Redha Monfaredi.
