A woman in Ras Al Khaimah was granted a divorce after citing years of emotional distress, neglect, and the alleged practice of witchcraft by her husband.
After five years of marriage and having a four-year-old daughter, the woman sought to end her marriage and gain custody of their child. She alleged that her husband physically abused her and neglected her, then proceeded to communicate with other women and engage in "immoral acts such as sorcery and witchcraft," causing her a great deal of emotional distress.
After reviewing the evidence, the court determined reconciliation was impossible and ordered the husband to pay her AED 20,000 (BD2,000) annually as housing allowance, AED 7,000 (BD700) per month to cover the costs of a nanny, and AED 700 (BD70) per month in child support.
