His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday met Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) chairman Isa Al Shaiji and board members at Riffa Palace.
He underscored the central role of the national Press in advancing the kingdom’s development.
He noted that the role of journalists in delivering accurate information and showcasing Bahrain’s wide-ranging achievements reflects the kingdom’s progress and prosperity, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended Bahraini media professionals for their strong sense of national duty, and noted that their credibility and professionalism help drive the kingdom’s development.
Regarding the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law, Mr Al Saiji and BJA board members expressed their appreciation to HRH Prince Salman for his continued support, which played a pivotal role in the law’s approval and its subsequent ratification by His Majesty.
They affirmed that the law constitutes an important milestone in strengthening the media sector and enhancing its legislative framework.
HRH Prince Salman emphasised that the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law reflects Bahrain’s commitment to advancing an accommodating legislative environment for the media, supporting the growth of the sector in line with its strategic aspirations.
He noted that the law aligns with the broader process of development and modernisation led by His Majesty, aimed at strengthening institutional governance and safeguarding freedom of opinion and expression.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the steadfast efforts of Bahraini journalists in carrying out their national duties.
He affirmed that their loyalty, dedication and professionalism are reflected in the quality of their work and their service to the kingdom.
HRH Prince Salman also commended the rich history of Bahraini journalism and the enduring contributions of its early pioneers, highlighting the breadth of national talent that drives the sector today and strengthens Bahrain’s identity and values.
Mr Al Saiji expressed his sincere appreciation for HRH Prince Salman’s unwavering support of the national Press.
He emphasised that the support serves as a driving force motivating journalists to further contribute to Bahrain’s ongoing progress and development.
